Thermophysical Properties of Nd3+:Gd3Ga5O12 Crystal

Abstract: Nd3+:Gd3Ga5O12 (Nd:GGG) single crystals were grown by the Czochraski method. Specific heat and thermal diffusivity of Nd:GGG single crystals were measured with differential scanning calorimetry and laser flash methods, respectively. The thermal conductivity of Nd:GGG was calculated, and consistent with the thermal conductivity measured with PPMS. The experimental results indicate that Nd:GGG single crystal has good thermal properties such as high specific heat and thermal conductivity. Thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of Nd:GGG single crystal vary with temperature. The higher temperature is, the lower thermal diffusivity and the thermal conductivity are. The Debye temperature of Nd:GGG is 711K.
