Research on Ternary Boride Based Cermet

Abstract: Ternary boride based cermet (TBBC) was produced successfully by using the reaction liquid sintering method under 1280℃ and vacuum. The hardness, density and coefficient of thermal expansion of TBBC are 92.4HRA, 8.2g/cm3 and 8.0×10-6/K respectively. The microstructure of TBBC was studied by using SEM, XRD and EDS. Results show that the main composition of TBBC is ternary-boride-based hard phase and ferrous-base binder phase. TBBC has excellent wear resistance performance.
