Abstract: To improve the properties of oxygen electrodes of fuel cells and metal-air batteries, La1-xAxFe1-yCoyO3(A’=Ca, Sr, Ba) were prepared. Oxygen electrode was prepared, in which La1-xAxFe1-yCoyO3 were used as catalysts for oxygen reduction. In alkaline solution, the polarization curves
of the electrode were measured by using Hg/HgO as a reference electrode. The effect of constitutions on electrocatalytic activities and chemical stability
was studied. The specific surface area of catalysts was measured with BET method. It is found that, when x=0.4, the specific surface area is maximum
and the electrocatalytic activities are the best. It is indicated that La0.6Ca0.4Fe0.6Co0.4O3 is a suitable catalyst for oxygen
reduction in alkaline solutions.
