The Effects of Fluorides on the Properties of Fluorozirconate Glass

Abstract: Fluorozirconate glass is a good kind of optical material. The paper systematically researchedthe effects of PbF4, LiF, SrF2, HU4, NaF and YF3 on the refractive index, glass-forming ability andthermal expansion coeffeciency of the fluorozirconate glass. The results show that PbF2 and LiFcan increase the refractive index of the glass, however, SrF2 and HfF4 can decrease the refractiveiudex. According the DTA of the glass, the optimum concentrations of these fluorides in whichthe glass has good glass-forming ability were determined.
