Abstract: This article reviews the recent research progress on the synthesis of mesoporous materials. From the surfactant-templated and nonsurfactant-templated pathways to mesoporous materials, the modification of the framework, the control of the morphology and pore size, as well as the improvement of the hydrothermal stability of mesoporous materials have been covered in this review. The outlook in this area is also presented.

Key words: mesoporous materials, surfactant template, nonsurfactant template, synthesis, review
