Adsorption Mechanism of Dispersant PMAA-NH₄ on BaTiO₃

Abstract

Abstract: Adsorption mechanism of dispersant PMAA-NH₄ on BaTiO₃ was studied by using potential and FTIR spectrum. The results show that the positive charge, Ba-OH₂⁺, existing on the surface of BaTiO₃ adsorbs the negative ion of the dispersant. The surface charge of BaTiO₃ and its IEP from pH=5.1 to pH=3.5 change after the addition of PMAA-NH₄. When pH=10, the concentration of PMAA-NH₄ is 0.8wt%, the adsorption comes up to saturation and stabilized BaTiO₃ suspension can be obtained.
