Transmission Loss of Lead Fluoride Crystals

Abstract

Abstract: The transmission loss of PbF₂ crystals, happened in their growth process and in the period of machining, storing and carrying, was investigated. The results show that the transmission loss in the growth process happens when oxygen atoms occupy the center of the PbF₂ crystal lattice and the transmission loss happens in the period of machining, storing and carrying when β→α phase transition occurs on the surfaces of the crystals after they contact with water.
