Abstract: The technique of powder preheating and explosive sintering was used to prepare single phase
nano-ceramic, with the raw material of α-Al2O3 powder with grain size about 40nm. SEM, XRD were used to determine the
microstructure of sintered samples. Recent progress indicated that, the single phase nano-ceramics of aluminium oxide with
96%-100% theoretical density and grain size less than 100nm were obtained, the grain growth was accelerated along with the increase of powder preheating temperature, the lattice deformation of grains was not evident compared with that explosive sintering
technique adopted at room temperature. The nano-ceramic quality and its improing ways were analyzed and discussed.
